Usama Alshaibi was born in Baghdad, Iraq and spent his formative years living between the United States and the Middle East. He is an award winning filmmaker and his films have received grants from the Creative Capital Foundation, the Playboy Foundation and the MacArthur Foundation, among others.
Usama lived and worked in Chicago for 16 years. He's now pursuing his MFA in film at the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he lives with his wife and daughter.
