walking on air
Mistress is ecstatic! The movie that I recently produced, and that is being released in theaters this week, just got an absolutely glowing review in Variety. For those of you who don't know, Variety is a very important industry publication. This means a good future for My film.
The review in the Village Voice is good, as well. The review in the New York Times is lukewarm, but that's just fine. It's a review in the New York Times, and any review means they take the film seriously.
Ah, after so much hard work, this feels quite nice. Cause to celebrate!
Cheers!

pining with passion for this project

My grandfather and I (may he rest in peace):

blessings given
My Grandmother just gave Me the blessing to buy Her land (which was to be My land had circumstances turned out as intended) and turn it into an artist retreat. It's 92 acres. It will cost $150,000. Now I must find investors to make this dream project happen. It is a very secluded spot in the world, where artists and others could feel free to be themselves. This image is a satellite view of the property. The blue markers are mostly buildings - Our house, Our barn, a pond, and a few abandoned houses (one where My grandfather was actually born - the old fashioned way).

My plan is to first buy the land and fix up the main house, put in a new septic system (priority #1), then rebuild the barn as open studio space, then build a few small one room cabins where artists can stay. Nothing too fancy - just small and clean. There's already a lovely garden space where I can grow smaller crops of veggies and herbs. A few fruit tress exist there already, but I could plant a few more. When things get started, I'll have a full-time caretaker who will live in the main house rent free. Eventually, I'd like to bring a few animals back (aside from the litters of stray cats that already call the farm home). Maybe a horse or two and some chickens for eggs. There are sheds and sheds of antiques on the property, or at least there were. I have heard that people have begun breaking in to the place because it's not occupied. All of My childhood toys are stored in the attic, but I don't know if they've been stolen.
I have to move on this quickly and buy the property before autumn. Then next summer I'll begin with the renovations. If anyone is interested in supporting this project in any capacity of course you'll have access to the place, and slaves who invest will get extended sessions out there where no one will interrupt. I plan to build a small shrine area for special rituals as well. This will be nothing if not one of the most eccentric places in the Midwest.
The deed is mine should I be able to purchase it. The land won't go on the market for a couple of months. My husband has even offered to give someone a percentage of his next two movies which he would like to shoot out there.
I have to emphasize that this is a passionate dream of mine, and has been since I was a child. I used to sit on the front porch and scheme of ways to use this land for creative purposes, and to share it with others. It is My secret hideaway. It was always supposed to be My land. And now with Grandmother's blessing it is up to Me to make this happen.
